LETTER FROM JORDAN - WEEK 65 (8/31/15)
Well there goes another great week here in Vista Alegre and we are working strong. In these past few weeks, we have been working really hard in finding new people to teach and we learned something. A lot of people when we first talk to them aren't really receptive to our message, but we come back a few weeks or months or even years later and they are really prepared. We are not always here to just baptize, but a lot of times just to plant the seeds so the sowers can come in later on.
Also this week, we helped destroy someone's house as a service. All of the houses are adobe brick or regular brick houses with concrete, so it's a pretty satisfying service.
Well I forgot my camera in my room, so no pictures for this week, but I will make up for it. Sorry for keeping it short, but just know that I love this work and I know I am protected.

Week 2^6 = 64
LETTER FROM JORDAN - WEEK 64 (8/24/15)
Another great week in the mission!
This week, we were able to find a few new people to teach, and even some really interested people from contacting them off the street. It always surprises us to see how well the people here are prepared for the gospel and how little our part of the work is.
Also we had a baptism in our ward from the sister missionaries, who baptized 2 people who were found by a referral from the temple. My companion and I each baptized one of them, and it was a really spiritual experience.
The work has been pretty difficult at times, but there are always the little moments that make everything worth it.
Sorry for keeping it short, but thanks for all of your support!

Week 63
LETTER FROM JORDAN - WEEK 63 (8/17/15)
And there flies by another week here in Vista Alegre.
There's not too much to report on for this week, but everything is going pretty good here. I got to do another interchange with the zone leaders and I got to go over to the center of Trujillo and learn from Elder Phelps one of our zone leaders. It is always really nice to be able to learn new techniques and to improve ourselves as missionaries.
It was really nice to be able to do an endowment session and remember all of the covenants I've made and learn some new things. I think we saw a new temple video too. Remember to see the blog post from the mission. I am in one of the photos there. http://kurtandkathymarler.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-day-at-temple-cajamarca-norte-and.html
In the mission, we are always talking about becoming more Christ-like in every way and teaching how he would teach. Technically, it's an impossible goal in this life, but it helps us always find things that we can do better and gives us a hope of how we will become.
Well, we are already halfway done with another transfer, and we are working really hard to find those chosen people that have been prepared for us.
Without anything else to report on, here's a sweet picture of the view from our room:
Until next week!

Week 62
LETTER FROM JORDAN - WEEK 62 (8/11/15)
Another great week in the mission field full of hard times and miracles.
Well, this week we were able to have a lot of training from our mission leaders. On Tuesday it started out with a really nice zone training and on Thursday we had interviews with President and Sister Marler and the Assistants. In these training's they all put a huge focus on what is mighty prayer. In Spanish, there is no translation for mighty, they just call it fervent, potent, and powerful prayer. They explained that if our prayers were really mighty, then there would be nothing holding us back from the work here.
Also today, our zone along with one of the zones from Caja Marca (new part of our mission) got to do a session in the temple, which I haven't done since June of last year! It was honestly an amazing experience now that I have grown in spiritual knowledge from a year in the mission and being able to understand a lot more. But the only downside is that we had to be inside the temple at 6:30 in the morning, but it was worth it!
Also this week I got a surprise letter from home from my younger brother Benjamin:
I love being here in the mission and these will be 2 years that I will never forget!

Week 61
LETTER FROM JORDAN - WEEK 61 (8/3/15)
Well this was a very interesting week here in Vista Alegre.
First off, the 28th and 29th of July is Peru's Independence day, so our ward put on a pretty big activity to celebrate
Singing the national anthem:
The youth performed a traditional dance:
And of course, the marinera:
On another note, this week one of the converts in our ward passed away. He was baptized a few months ago, right before he got extremely sick. He had stomach cancer from his job of painting houses and cars without covering his mouth. It was interesting to see how sad all of his relatives were but we were able to share a short message about the plan of salvation and it really is a plan of happiness.
Well we are continuing to work really hard and the work is progressing really well here, with plenty of miracles from the temple.
IMPORTANT NEWS!
I almost forgot! Next week our zone is going to do a session at the temple on this Tuesday (August 11), which means just for one week, I will write the email on TUESDAY. So don't get mad if you don't see anything in your emails Monday. haha
Well that's all I got for this week, and until the next!
